Rangelands Outback Camp

Rangelands Outback Camp built and created by John Stainton is an exclusive off-grid luxury glamping retreat/camp/experience/adventure about 20 min drive from Winton in the Queensland Outback. Located on top of the Rangelands Jump-Up/Mesa with stunning views, unforgettable sunsets and night skies you will never forget. It offers self-sustained oversized Belle tents and includes all catering including breakfast, dinner, sunset canapés, cheeses and drinks.

What do we do?

In charge of the Grand Opening in 2022 and daily operations of the venue during the season. Responsible for camp maintenance, record keeping, welcoming guests, housekeeping, and all catering needs (max. 12 guests).

Rangelands is a fully off-grid camp with a total of over seventy 340W solar panels backed up onto eight 12.6KW lithium batteries. 65000 ltr of rainwater tanks for the operational side of the venue plus six 3500 ltr water tanks for each of the accommodations. The enzyme bacterial sewage system creates grey water being used to water the landscape. Recycling is another important aspect of the camp, controlling wastage not only by separating the rubbish, but ensuring that the suppliers deliver the goods packed in reusable containers.

Implementing all operational systems, creating an over 200-page resort manual for new staff, training plans, liquor license compliance, food safety compliance, maintenance reports, fuel/gas/water levels reports, troubleshooting, and more.

Using drones and inspiring professional photographic equipment, providing photographs and film footage for social media and advertising purposes. Creating a 'Rangelands Outback Camp Guest Guide'

Working closely with Winton businesses and locals.

Educating ourselves about the regional offerings, landmarks, attractions, history, wildlife and dinosaurs of course (Australias Dino Capital).

It is exciting to share everything we learn with our guests and learn from them at the same time, as our guests are coming from a very broad spectrum of professions.

We returned for a second season in 2023 to continue our journey with Rangelands Outback Camp and John Stainton, improving what we all have started.

In February 2024 we came back to Rangelands to rebuild all tents, upgrade the electrics and do an extensive maintenance check.

After 3 years of operating the camp has integrated so well into the environment that we could do some additional landscaping.

Over the past 3 years we have maintained a 5 star rating throughout all media platforms.
